Hospital Activities

Our hospital rehabilitation activities are based on both continuous cycle and day time accredited by the National Health Service or  private.
The continuous cycle activities are carried out in a two floors structure for about 4000 square meters.

In this area 54 patient multi-bedroom with and 6 single rooms for a total of 170 beds in air-conditioned room all summer / winter are available.

  • The centre provides: two- four sections motorized beds - for sub-intensive care, biphasic defibrillator, ventilator, monitors for checking patients’ vital parameters, medical gas lines (oxygen and vacuum).
  • One hundred beds accommodate patients with diseases of High Specialty Neurorehabilitation.
  • Twenty of those beds are monitored for Wake-up Zone for patients in vegetative state.
  • Seventy beds are for intensive rehabilitation multi-specialistic.

The day cycle activities are carried out in specific areas for the Day-Hospital Rehabilitation.

The structures for hospital activities, are supported by the following environments:

  • 100 square meters therapeutic pool
  • A hydrotherapy tub
  • Differentiate gyms for neurological, orthopedic, trauma, cardiology, pulmonary rehabilitation
  • Gyms and clinics equipped for, speech therapy, occupational therapy and music therapy
  • Electro-therapy departments

S.Maria del Pozzo’s Hospital Rehabilitation Department directed by Prof. Vincenzo Orlando, is characterized by outstanding organizational and welfare requirements.

A medical specialist will follow each patient in all aspects of hospitalization. The patient is followed for the medical aspects by a multi-specialized team consisting of internists, neurologists and physiatrists who jointly ensure integrated care.
Any further specialized needs of the patient are satisfied by the presence of specialist advisers (cardiologist, plastic surgeon, speech therapist, neurologist, child psychiatrist, psychologist, therapist, ophthalmologist, dermatologist, orthopedist, phlebologist, pediatrician) operating in the department.
The emergency care is ensured by internal professionals according to the standard of continuity of care.

The technical staff of the rehabilitation department consists of physical therapists, speech therapists, neuropsychomotor therapists, psychotherapists, an music therapy experts.

The nurses and community health personnel, coordinated by the head nurse, according to the responsibilities of competence, carries out its activities of direct assistance; in particular, in due cases, it carries out prevention and treatment of bedsores as indicated by the plastic surgeon.
Patients can use all the necessary diagnostic services of  Imaging, Clinical Laboratory Analysis, Neurophysiology.
The Clinical Nutrition Service Specialist is able to meet all the needs of diet therapy, as hospital pharmacy contributes decisively to the right pharmaceutical therapies and the choice of quality of other diagnostic medical devices.

The access to the hospitalization of High Specialty Neurorehabilitation, including hospitalization for patients in persistent vegetative state, is made by transfer and transport from the hospital for acute care borne by the resident or to be sustained by hospital on the advice of medical specialists ASL reference.

after completing the card for admission by the hospital specialist, or the ASL specialist.

Our policy prevents us from  accepting stay in hospital without a the signature of the doctor in charge.

 The application is evaluated by the responsible hospital department that when necessary, could ask for further information.

 Once the application is accepted, the patient is placed on the waiting list and the date of stay in hospital will be communicated to the user or a person representing him.
The access to other activities of Specialist Rehabilitation Hospital, both in ordinary regime and in Day-Hospital, can be only privately booked.
